TRANSMISSION-S is an installation that investigates our cultural heritage as for the mode of thought of women, their bodies, their place and their function within society, through speeches and writings from different times and fields, from Sciences and Medicine to Philosophy, from Religion to Media, from Literature to Politics, etc. This installation questions the transmission of this cultural heritage over time and societies, from a processual point of view, when certain elements seem to progressively lose visibility to become latent. It examines the effects of deliberate choices of upholding or concealment of these in the collective consciousness and memory. TRANSMISSION-S results from the meeting with the French writer and feminist Benoîte Groult's works, which reveal the high level of rejection of women and the female body in our history and culture, by ignorance, contempt, hate, condescension, habit and comfort, and which show how all the fields of society center on this rejection, in order to make it solid and permanent. The Benoîte Groult's approach is situated in the transmission of this past as completely as possible, in order to make us realize the mechanisms of the rejection of women and to initiate their deconstruction. TRANSMISSION-S originates from a reversal, that of the recurrent assignment of women to needlework. It proposes a new state of play to extend that of Benoîte Groult, almost fifty years apart.
